The Belvedere Bridge connects Müngersdorf and Vogelsang BrückenSchlag in the west of Cologne. The direct route between Müngersdorf and Vogelsang has been free since June 12, 2010. The new Belvedere Bridge, an approximately 11-meter-long pedestrian and bicycle path bridge, now connects neighborhoods previously separated by the four-lane military ring road and the three-track railroad. The viaduct also brings together two recreational areas: the outer green belt with the Belvedere Landscape Park to the west and the biotope on the Wassermannsee and the landscape park in the TRIOTOP industrial park to the east.
Other parts of the city are now easily accessible: Junkersdorf, Lövenich and Widdersdorf in the west, Braunsfeld, Ehrenfeld and Bickendorf in the east. The new bridge is located south of the "Widdersdorf / Lövenich" exit of the military ring road. It overcomes a height difference of almost nine meters between the Girlitzweg in Vogelsang and the green belt Müngersdorf, which lies high on the Rhine terrace. The stairs and ramps on the east side of the bridge lead to a platform where you can experience the "Belvedere" up to the Cologne city panorama with the silhouette of the cathedral.
