The 'Fiep Tunnel', named after the famous illustrator Fiep Westendorp who was born in Zaltbommel in 1916 is a true work of art. The colorful tunnel is illuminated by 12 extremely impact resistant VENTEGO fixtures mounted in line.
The Fiep Tunnel is part of a complete redesign of the infrastructure on and around the provincial road, the N322. The contract for this Design & Construct project was awarded by the province of Gelderland to the infrastructure construction company STRABAG BV. For the lighting of the tunnel, the province has formulated requirements in terms of lighting class and level, lifetime, energy savings in accordance with the ROVL-2011 and NPR 13201-1 and vandalism resistance with an IK-qualification of 10++.
In consultation with Hoeflake Electrotechniek, subcontractor for the lighting along the route, a suitable solution was found in VENTEGO surface-mounted lighting. The VENTEGO surface-mounted luminaire met all the main contractor's requirements in terms of technical specifications, design and pricing. Hoeflake Electrotechniek installed 12 LED fixtures. By mounting them at an angle of 45°, the light output of 1300 lumens is optimally utilized. Built-in LED diffusers enhance the uniformity of the light image.
